Customer Success Manager brings more than 30 years of dispatch experience to courses for new dispatchers and the leaders who run dispatch operations
Command Alkon, the leading software and solutions provider for the heavy building materials industry, today announced that Ron Robertson, Customer Success Manager at Command Alkon, will teach both Dispatcher 101 and Dispatcher 201 as part of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) 2027 course lineup.
Dispatcher 101 is a two-day, interactive course built for dispatchers and order takers at every experience level, with a particular focus on those newer to the role. Participants start with the history and current state of the ready mixed concrete industry, which gives context for the dispatcher’s place in the operation. From there, the course moves into the core work of the job: taking orders, managing schedules, and solving the problems that come up every day. It closes with how technology can improve efficiency and with practical ways to manage stress and keep strong working relationships in one of the industry’s most demanding roles. This is the second year Ron will be leading the 101 course.
Dispatcher 201 picks up where 101 leaves off. Designed for dispatch managers, supervisors, lead dispatchers, and the operations, plant, and customer service leaders who work alongside them, the course helps participants move past daily firefighting toward structured, data-driven dispatch leadership. Participants learn how to organize the dispatch office and clarify roles, set consistent standards, build a policy control system for priority accounts and customer tiering, and use KPIs and analytics to find bottlenecks. Real-world scenarios prepare leaders to coach their teams, reduce dispatcher burnout, and lead through demand spikes, plant outages, and driver shortages. The course also looks at how emerging technologies and AI are beginning to shape dispatch decision-making.
“Dispatch is where the day is won or lost, and the people in that seat carry a lot of weight,” said Robertson. “Dispatcher 101 gives newer dispatchers a solid footing, while Dispatcher 201 is for the people leading those teams, so they can build an operation that runs consistently instead of one that depends on heroics.”.
Both courses are held in person over two days, and participants who complete either course earn a Certificate of Completion. No advance preparation is required, and all course materials are provided on a tablet for the duration of the course. Register for Dispatcher 101 here and Dispatcher 201 here.
